STORRS, Conn. – Junior Emily Banashefski's late goal on Thursday night wasn't enough to lift La Salle women's soccer (0-2) past the UConn Huskies (2-0) as the Explorers dropped the match 2-1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• UConn jumped ahead with a score at the 20:23 mark by Jada Konte.
• Three seconds into the second half, the Huskies found the back of the net for their second goal of the game, this time off the foot of Abbey Jones.
• La Salle cut the deficit to one as Banashefski sent a left-footed shot to the upper part of the net over the UConn keeper during the 86^th minute.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Banashefski's goal is her first of the season and first for the Explorers.
• Rookie Michela Auguadro (0-1) made her first career start in net. She allowed two goals on 17 shots faced and made six saves.
• Freshmen Shea Collins and Lauren Costello made their first career starts.
• UConn outshot La Salle, 17-5, and won the corner kick battle, 5-3.
