PHILADELPHIA – La Salle field hockey (4-2) is set for their final weekend tune-up before beginning Atlantic 10 Conference play as they host Towson on Friday, Sept. 17 before heading to Villanova on Sunday, Sept. 19.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle enters the weekend on a two-game winning streak, beating Lehigh, 4-3 and Wagner, 1-0 in their last two matchups.
- The Explorers remain unbeaten at Hank DeVincent Field, holding a home record of 4-0 while outscoring opponents 12-5.
- Freshman Sofia Pla ranks second in the A10 with six goals in six games, while tying for the conference lead with three game-winning goals.
- As a team, La Salle ranks second in the A10 in scoring average with 2.667 per game with a scoring margin of 0.84.
- 12 different Explorers have recorded points, including double-digit point scorers in Pla (13) and sophomore Tatum Johnson (10).
- Sophomore keeper Ryan Curley has made all six starts for the Explorers, saving shots at a 0.814 clip with 48 total saves.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
- Towson (0-5) enters play on the heels of a narrow 2-3, overtime loss to Rider.
- As a squad, the Tigers have been outscored 15-4, averaging 0.80 goals per game while conceding 3.00 per contest.
- Four players lead the team with three points in Gianna Antone, Georgia Beachley, Hannah King, and Hannah McKeon.
- Goalkeeper Lena Vandam leads the Colonial Athletic Association with 66 saves, including an average of 13.20 saves per game.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS:
- Villanova (2-4) returned 15 players from last year's team, including six players who started all 14 games.
- The Wildcats dropped a pair of games this past weekend, first at No. 22 Monmouth, 3-4 before falling to Penn, 0-2.
- In six games, Villanova has been outscored 21-12 by their opponents.
- Meghan Mitchell leads the team with seven points, trying for the team lead with three goals.
