PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team looks to continue its unbeaten record to start A-10 play, taking the road on the weekend in matchups against Dayton on Thursday, Sept. 23 and Saint Louis on Sunday, Sept. 26.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS
- La Salle enters the weekend with a 2-4-2 record, 0-0-1 in A-10 action.
- The Explorers dominated the stat sheet in the 1-1 draw against Fordham to open A-10 play last Sunday, but struggled to find the back of the net despite a 28-11 advantage in shots.
- The visitors struck first as Alexandra Taylor found the opener in the 68th minute to give Fordham a 1-0 lead.
- La Salle's persistence paid off in the 88th minute as Molly O'Brien scored her first of the season to equalize and send the match into overtime.
- The Explorers outshot the Rams 5-2 in the final 20 minutes, but both teams settled for a draw after neither were able to grab a winning goal.
- Five different Explorers have scored on the season, Emily Banashefski leading the way with two goals and 13 shots.
- Shea Collins has been the key creator with three assists, leading the team.
- Michela Auguadro and Jordynn Stallard have shared duties in goal, combining for a .769 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
- After cruising to a win in their opening three games, the Flyers have been without a win in their last six matches.
- Dayton went on the road to play Saint Louis to begin A-10 competition, falling to the Billikens with a late penalty in a 1-0 defeat.
- The Flyers have outscored their opponents 11-9 on the year despite the 3-4-2 record, paced by a team-high four goals from Marlee Taylor.
- Diana Benigno leads the squad with two assists, one of six different Flyers to register an assist.
- Madelyn Dewey has been the first choice goalkeeper on the season, starting in all nine games while holding a 0.90 GAA average. Dayton has recorded three shutouts as a team.
SCOUTING THE BILLIKENS
- The Billikens enter the weekend matchups against Duquesne and La Salle on a three game unbeaten run, winning their last two matches including a 1-0 win to start A-10 play over Dayton.
- Saint Louis holds a 3-5-1 record, four of the losses coming against Power Five opponents.
- While the offense has only scored seven goals in nine games, the Billiken defense has held strong while also only conceding seven goals on the season.
- Emily Gaebe (3g) and Abbie Miller (2g, 2a) lead the Billiken team with six points. Hannah Sawyer recorded the only other goals on the roster with two.
- Miller and Anna Walsh pace Saint Louis with two assists.
- Emily Puricelli is slated to make the start in goal over the weekend, the sophomore starting all nine matches of the season. Puricelli holds a 0.76 GAA with an .825 save percentage.
