Box Score RICHMOND, VA. – The Explorers played an even second half with Richmond (2-6, 2-0 A-10), but La Salle field hockey (4-5, 0-1 A-10) fell in their conference opener on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Steffie Bongers got Richmond on the board first, scoring her fourth goal of the season 10:51 into the match to give the Spiders a 1-0 lead.
- Olivia Frazier doubled the Richmond lead in the second, tallying her second goal of the campaign to extend the Spider lead to 2-0.
- Sophomore keeper Ryan Curley made three first half saves for La Salle, as they entered the halftime break down 2-0.
- Richmond fired nine shots in the third period, but were unable to break through as Curley made five saves in the frame.
- Early in the fourth quarter, Lindsey Frank scored her third of the season to put Richmond ahead 3-0.
- Tatum Johnson answered for La Salle under two minutes later, scoring her sixth goal of the season to make the score 3-1 where it would end.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Curley (4-5) recorded double-digit saves for the third time this season.
- Richmond held the edge in shots, 24-7 and in penalty corners, 7-4.
- Samie Hackman and Johnson each lead La Salle with two shots.

- La Salle will continue their A-10 slate in the same city, as they travel just down the road to VCU on Sunday, Sept. 26 to take on the Rams.
