CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The La Salle women's rowing team and the varsity four boat competed at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday. The Explorers, rowing in the competition for the first time since 2016, finished 17th out of 52 boats to lock down a berth into next year's HOCR.
Starting the head race 37th in the women's club 4+ event, the Explorers crossed the finish line in a time of 19:11.095, nearly a second ahead of Temple's top 4 and just behind Drexel. La Salle also bested both conference competitors in the field - Fordham and George Mason - and defeated regional competitors Sacred Heart, Northeastern, Holy Cross, and Colgate.
"I could not be prouder of how these women represented our program today at the largest regatta in the world," head coach
Kelsey Franks said. "They rowed with tenacity and poise, and ultimately got the job done. We are ecstatic to have secured an automatic bid for our team in next year's race."
Vesta "A" club took first place in a time of 18:20.763, while Georgetown was the first collegiate team to cross in a time of 18:22.729.
