La Salle Leaves George Mason with a 0-0 Tie

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Explorers and Patriots finished the night in a 0-0 tie after 90 minutes of play. La Salle is now 3-5-3 (2-1-1 in conference) in 2022, and George Mason goes to 2-7-1 (1-2-1 in conference).
 
How it Happened –
  • Although goals were limited tonight, both offenses started the game strong. Nigel Buckley got in the box in the sixth minute and put a shot on goal that was blocked by the George Mason goalkeeper.
  • In the 17th minute the Patriots applied their own offensive pressure on a breakaway to the goal, but Filip Sabatti dove in front to block the shot and keep the game scoreless.
  • In the second half La Salle had one of their best scoring chances as Daniel Smith sent a pass to Nigel Buckley in the middle of the box, but his shot was wide of the net.
  • In the 83rd minute Justin Brunow weaved his way in the box to get a shot on goal but was saved in traffic by the Patriots goalkeeper.

Inside the Numbers –
  • La Salle led the way with nine shots on the night, four being on goal. George Mason had eight shots, three being on goal.
  • Filip Sabatti had three saves during the contest.
  • La Salle had four corner kicks opposite to George Mason's three.
  • There were 21 total fouls, 12 for La Salle and nine for George Mason.
