BRONX, N.Y. - The La Salle women's soccer team returns to the road for a matchup with Fordham on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m., with the contest airing live on ESPN+.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- La Salle (6-6-1, 1-4 A-10) enters after earning a midweek draw against Columbia on Wednesday night.
- Sophomore Shea Collins and junior Alyssa Gargiulo scored for the Explorers, who fought back from a pair of one-goal deficits.
- Gargiulo tallied her fourth goal of the season, all of which have come on penalty kicks, after freshman Ricshya Walker was fouled in the box. The goal ended up being the final one of the 2-2 match.
- Junior Kelli McGroarty had a chance to give La Salle the win but her shot from 20 yards out was tipped by the Columbia goalkeeper off the crossbar in the closing minutes.
ABOUT THE RAMS
- Fordham has a 3-1-1 record in the Atlantic 10 (4-7-1 overall), good for fifth in the league standings, and is coming off a 3-1 win over Rhode Island last weekend.
- Kristen Cocozza scored the game winner for the Rams against URI, and leads the team with eight points on the year.
- Cocozza and Natalie Velde pace the squad with three goals apiece.
- The two teams tied 1-1 last season at McCarthy Stadium, as the Explorers dominated play with a 28-11 shot advantage but needed an 88th minute goal to earn a point.
