Men Are Victorious Over Nova, Women Lose in Close Battle

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – La Salle swimming and diving faced off against Villanova this afternoon as the men picked up their second win on the season winning 167-131. The women lost 151-149 in a tight meet throughout.
 
The men are now 2-3 on the season, while the women go to 2-2-1.
 
How the Swimmers Finished –
  • The men started off strong as the team of Alex Kuriawa, Jason Rosales, Zack Wolbert, and Tarik Gusic came in first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:31.11.
  • Annie Moser swam hard in the women's 1000-yard freestyle and got first place with a time of 10:22.68.
  • George Williamson won the 1000-yard freestyle on the men's side at a pace of 9:23.74.
  • Kuriawa secured his second victory of the meet in the men's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.85.
  • Taking first in the women's 100-yard breaststroke was Gabriela Herbreder. She swam the event in 1:03.34.
  • Rosales got the win in the men's 100-yard breaststroke swimming a 57.91 time.
  • Wolbert won in the men's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:49.85.
  • In the women's 50-yard freestyle, Emma van Selm took first at a pace of 23.50.
  • van Selm also won the women's 100-yard freestyle in 51.24 seconds.
  • Gusic got first in the men;s 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:50.46.
  • Herbreder won her second event of the meet in the women's 200-yard breaststroke, swimming at pace of 2:15.84.
  • La Salle swept in the 500-yard freestyle on both sides as Thilda Strom and George Williamson got the wins.
  • Zack Wolbert added two more wins to the day in the men's 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM
  • In the 200-yard freestyle relay, both La Salle men and women got first place.
 
How the Divers Finished –
  • Phoebe Shaya took second place in the women's one-meter dive with a score of 250.05.
  • Sam Henninger got first place in the men's one-meter dive with a score of 272.70.
  • Shaya and Henninger each won in their respective three-meter dives. Shaya scored a 280.28, while Henninger put up a 285.15.
 
Up Next –
  • The women will travel to the University of Rhode Island on Saturday, December 3rd at 1 p.m. to face a fellow A-10 conference member.
  • The men will stay at home on Sunday, December 4th to take on NJIT at 1 p.m.
