Men's Track and Field | March 18, 2022
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The La Salle men's and women's track and field teams will travel across town to kick off the outdoor season at the Penn Challenge on Saturday, Mar. 19 at Franklin Field.
Throwing events will begin at 11 a.m. followed by all running and jumping events at 1 p.m. There will be a total of 20 events throughout the day. All events will be available to stream on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT (MEN'S):
- The La Salle men's track and field team enters the outdoor season following an impressive indoor stint highlighted by three individual champions at the Atlantic 10 Championships.
- Dennis Manyeah led the charge claiming his fourth individual title as an Explorer. The high-jumper cleared a height of 2.11 meters to take first in the event.
- Liam Rivard came out victorious in the men's 1K. He crossed the line in 2:26.00 to take the title.
- Luke Jaciw-Zurakowsky was king of the 3K with a time of 8:18.84.
- Ibrahim Kedir and Ryan James had great showings in the 5K. Kedir took third with a time of 14:27.97 while James grabbed seventh at 14:38.88.
- Taonga Mbambo finished top five in the 3K with a time of 8:29.92 while James Ptack was top 10 in the mile with a time of 4:14.28.
LAST TIME OUT (WOMEN'S):
- The La Salle women's track and field team saw equal success during the indoor season also highlighted by three individual champions at the A-10 Championships.
- Christine Mancini not only claimed the individual title in the 1K, but her time of 2:48.63 set both a new program record and meet record.
- El Mancini came home with the gold in the 5K with a time of 16:21.54 while sister Liz Mancini claimed the individual title in the 3K with a time of 9:35.87.
- Christine Mancini and El Mancini saw success in the mile and 3K, respectively. Christine Mancini got the bronze in the mile with a time of 4:53.12 and El Mancini claimed silver in the 3K with a time of 9:39.27.
