TOWSON, Md. - Following a season-opening shutout victory over Seton Hall on Thursday, the La Salle women's soccer team (1-0) looks to round out its season-opening, two-match road trip on a high note at Towson (1-0) on Sunday evening. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- The Explorers downed Seton Hall, 1-0, on Thursday, as sophomore Haley Gschrey scored the lone goal of the match in the 31st minute.Â
- Gschrey took a pass from junior Alyssa Gargiulo in front of net, settled and rifled a left-footed shot from 10 yards out to the lower-right corner of goal to give La Salle the only offense it would need.
- From there, the Explorers locked down defensively and limited the Pirates to just three shots on goal all match.
- Sophomore Michela Auguadro made all three stops in goal to record the fourth shutout of her career.
- Junior Kelli McGroarty also recorded an assist on the only goal of the match for the Explorers.
ABOUT THE TIGERS
- Similar to La Salle, Towson also scored a 1-0 victory in its season opener on Thursday, beating Howard in Washington, D.C.
- Phoebe Canoles found the back of the net for the Tigers, who outshot the Bison, 14-10.
- Canoles was a preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association selection, along with teammate Nia Christopher, who was named the 2022 CAA Preseason Player of the Year.
- Jasmine Hamid, an All-CAA Second Team selection a season ago, led Towson with five shots (two on goal).
