NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The La Salle field hockey team continues its five-game road stretch with its second game up in the northeast this Sunday, August 28 when the Explorers go head-to-head with Merrimack at 12 p.m. The game will stream on NEC Front Row.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle enters the contest after recording a 4-1 victory over Bryant to kick off the 2022 season. The Explorers shows their resiliency pulling out the win following a nearly four-hour weather delay and a field change.
- Tatum Johnson led the charge for La Salle with a team-high two goals in the contest. Johnson was not only responsible for getting the Explorers on the board first, but also inevitably put the squad ahead after the Bulldogs tied it up in the third quarter.
- Sofia Pla also served as goal scorer for La Salle stepping up to the line for a one-on-one with the Bryant goalkeeper.
- Cat McFadden was the final Explorer earn points with a goal in the final minute of the game.
- Newcomer Peyton Tollaksen rattled off six shots in the game with four landing on the cage.
- Goalkeeper Ryan Curley fended off four shots and played all 60 minutes.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS:
- Merrimack enters the contest following a 4-1 loss to Colgate on Friday, August 26. The Warriors got off to a slow start allowing Colgate to score three times in the first half.
- In the 50th minute a penalty stroke gave Merrimack the shot it needed to get onto the board. Lauren Burke stepped up to the line to record the lone goal for the Warriors marking her first and the teams' first of the season.
- Julie Wester helped to lead the charge for Merrimack with a team-high four shots with one landing on the cage.
- Goalkeeper Isabelle Gardiner recorded the entire 60 minutes in the cage making six saves. The start marked the first for the freshman.
- Merrimack was only outshot by one in the game, 14-13, and both teams were even in penalty corners with nine apiece.
