Explorers Return to the Road for Two-Game Series

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The La Salle field hockey team returns to the road to take on Lock Haven this Friday, Sep. 16 at 3 p.m. before returning to the City of Brotherly Love to face Philadelphia foe Temple on Sunday, Sep. 18 at 1 p.m.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle recently snapped a three-game skid with a shutout victory over Rider in the Explorers first contest at home on DeVincent Field this season.
  • Tatum Johnson scored the first goal for La Salle and assisted on the second in the game. She continues to serve as the Explorers' leading goal-scorer with 13 points from five goals and three assists.
  • Sol Espona and Sofia Pla have played a crucial role in La Salle's offense thus far. Espona and Pla have each recorded two goals.
  • Ryan Curley earned the shutout victory for La Salle. She has started and played all six games in net for the Explorers this season. The junior has a .730 save percentage and has totaled 27 saves on 64 shots faced.
SCOUTING THE BALD EAGLES:
  • Lock Haven enters the contest with a perfect 5-0 record with four of the wins happening on its own turf. The Bald Eagles most recently defeated Central Michigan 2-1 on Sunday, Sep. 11.
  • Jazmin Palma leads the offensive effort for the Bald Eagles with seven points from three goals and one assist.
  • Martina Spangenberg and C. Lopez Zabala have recorded three goals apiece this season.
  • The roster also hosts goal scorers Brooke Hafsass and Amy Stevens.
  • Kelsey Felix has protected the cage this season for the Bald Eagles. She has only allowed six goals while making seven saves on 26 shots faced in five games.
SCOUTING THE OWLS:
  • Temple enters the contest at 5-1 overall having won its last three-straight and recording its only loss against No. 12 Virginia back on Sep. 2.
  • The Owls recently paid a visit to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to defeat Bucknell 5-2.
  • Temple as recorded back-to-back five-goal games, as well as recorded a big 6-0 shutout over Lehigh.
  • Tess Muller leads Temple in points with eight from two goals and four assists.
  • There is a three-way tie for the Owls leading goal-scorer. McKenna Burkhardt, Julianne Kopec and Olivia Vaccari have all recorded three goals apiece this season.
  • Molly Frey has played all six games in the cage for the Owls. She has allowed just four goals and has totaled 14 saves on 37 shots faced.
