PHILADELPHIA, P.a. – La Salle men's soccer lost 3-1 to Saint Louis in the first conference match of the 2022 season.
 
The Explorers fall to 1-4-2 and Saint Louis is now 3-3.
 
How it Happened –

• The beginning of the game was a back-and-forth defensive battle with each team notching three shots throughout.
• In the 26^th minute Saint Louis', John Klein, broke the scoreless contest. Seth Anderson had an initial shot on goal, but the rebound save was put into the back of the net by Klein.
• Christian Buendia put the Billikens up 2-0 in the 39^th minute with a shot from the top of the box sneaking past the Explorers' goalkeeper.
• Early in the second half Saint Louis was awarded a penalty kick in which John Klein scored his second goal of the game and thus putting Saint Louis up 3-0.
• Luis Puchol put La Salle on the board with his first goal of the season. Daniel Smith sent a crossing pass to the front of the net were a flying Puchol headed the ball to make the score 3-1.

 
Inside the Numbers –

• Luis Puchol scored his first goal on the season for the Explorers.
• Each team had nine total shots, with Saint Louis having seven of those on goal and La Salle, five.
• The goalkeepers for each team had four total saves in the match.
• Both teams had three corner kicks apiece.
• La Salle had 16 fouls opposed to Saint Louis' four.
