Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

La Salle and Manhattan Battled for 90 Minutes but End in a 1-1 Tie

PHILADELPHIA, P.a. – Friday night the La Salle men's soccer team squared off against Manhattan and after 90 hard fought minutes of play the game ended in a 1-1 tie. This puts La Salle at 1-1-1 on the season and Manhattan is also 1-1-1 after tonight.
 
How it Happened –
  • The game started off physical on both sides of the ball, with many players receiving yellow cards.
  • In the 42nd minute Manhattan's, Nassim Akki, got his second yellow card, which turned into a red card, putting the Explorers up a man for the remainder of the match.
  • The scoring was started by the Jaspers in the 47th minute by James Cotter as he found the back of the net to put Manhattan up 1-0.
  • The equalizer was scored soon after in the 49th minute by Giammarco Rodio. His first goal on the season was sent past Manhattan's goalie after Rodio fought his way through three defenders to tie the game up at one.
  • Down the stretch the Explorers would have three corner kick opportunities to take the lead.
  • A corner kick for La Salle in the last minute of play could not find the back of the net, keeping the game at a 1-1 tie.
 
Inside the Numbers –
  • Giammarco Rodio scored his first goal of the year, and the equalizer in this game.
  • La Salle out-shot Manhattan 10-4 in total, and 4-3 in shots on goal.
  • There was a total of 10 yellow cards given out tonight. Seven of those against Manhattan and three against La Salle.
  • La Salle had three corner kick opportunities opposed to the Jaspers' one.
