A Late Game Comeback Powers La Salle Past St. Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA, P.a. – The Explorers dug deep late in the game against St. Joe's and come out with a 2-1 victory.
 
La Salle is now 2-5-2 on the year and earned their first A-10 conference win, as St. Joe's falls to 1-3-4.
 
How it Happened –
  • The Hawks came out scoring early as Chris Hunt scored 19 seconds into the match.
  • Later in the first half, a handball foul on the Explorers would give St. Joe's a penalty kick, but Filip Sabatti dove low to his right to make an incredible save. The score would remain 1-0 Hawks.
  • The Explorers first got on the board in the 73rd minute. A shot sent on goal by La Salle was first saved, but Andres Rodriguez was there to put the rebound in the back of the net, tying the game at one goal apiece.
  • Two minutes later, in the 75th minute, a long pass down the pitch from Omari Cotterell to Nigel Buckley would give La Salle the 2-1 lead. Buckley found himself in the box and sent the ball past a diving Hawks goalkeeper.
 
Inside the Numbers –
  • The Explorers earned their second win of the year, and their first conference win.
  • Nigel Buckley is now tied as the goal leader for La Salle with his goal in tonight's match.
  • Andres Rodriguez tallies his first goal in 2022.
  • La Salle had 11 total shots tonight and five were on goal. St. Joe's had ten total, with three on goal.
  • There were 29 total fouls on the night. 15 by La Salle, and 14 by St. Joe's.
