Explorers Look to Regain Momentum at LIU

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The La Salle field hockey team looks to regain its winning momentum in its fourth-straight road match. The Explorers will face LIU on Sunday, September 4 in Brooklyn, New York at 12 p.m. The game is available to stream on NEC Front Row.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle enters the contest after suffering a 2-0 loss on the road against No. 8 Rutgers on Wednesday.
  • The Explorers backline stepped up to the plate allowing just two goals from the Scarlet Knights in the first half of the game. Both goals came from second-shot attempts on penalty corners.
  • The Rutgers defense challenged La Salle keeping the Explorers to just five shots with just one landing on the goal.
  • Ryan Curley was the shining star of the game for La Salle. The Scarlet Knights fired off 16 total shots with 10 landing on goal. Curley only let up two goals and made eight saves.
  • Off the six penalty corners awarded to Rutgers, the La Salle defense defended the cage in four preventing scoring opportunities for the Scarlett Knights.
  • Tatum Johnson continues to be the Explorers' leading scorer with 10 points from three goals and one assist. She leads the team in shots with 10 and shots on goal with seven.
SCOUTING THE SHARKS:
  • LIU enters the contest at 0-3 on the season. The contest with the Explorers will mark the first home game for the Sharks.
  • Redshirt freshman Jules Kuzmich leads the Sharks scoring this season. She has two points on two goals. Her last goal coming in the fourth-quarter against Columbia on Friday night, brining LIU within a single point of tying the game, 2-1.
  • Saarah Olton is the leading shot-taker for La Salle ripping off six shots including five on goal.
  • Maggie Streichert has recorded all 180 minutes of playing time in goal making 23 saves on 45 shots faced.
