PHILADELPHIA — The La Salle women's soccer team scored two goals in the second half to claim its fourth straight victory in Atlantic 10 Conference play by beating rival Saint Joseph's, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Sweeney Field.
With the win, the Explorers are now 4-1 in A-10 play and 6-5-2 on the season. The Explorers are 4-1 in A-10 play for the first time since 2017, when they went 9-0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first half, the Explorers got on the scoreboard in the 48th minute after scoring on a Saint Joseph's own goal during a corner kick.
- The Explorers extended their lead in the 72nd minute after Ricshya Walker scored by hitting a shot into the far left post off a pass from Caitlin Donovan.
- From there, the Explorers kept the Hawks at bay, limiting them to only one shot in the final 18 minutes to preserve the shutout. In addition, the Explorers allowed only two shots in the entire second half.
GAME NOTES
- Walker's goal marked her third score of the season. The sophomore also finished the game with three shots.
- The Explorer outshot the Hawks, 17-6, in the game. Haley Gschrey led La Salle with five shots and Sunni DiElmo followed her with four shots.
- Goalkeeper Michela Auguadro and the Explorers earned their fourth straight shutout victory of the season. Auguadro made four saves in the victory. Auguadro has not allowed a goal in her last 375 minutes of action in net.

- The Explorers will return home to host George Mason in another A-10 clash on Saturday at McCarthy Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
