PHILADELPHIA – La Salle field hockey will travel to face the Hawks of Saint Joseph's tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 p.m. The stakes are on the line as the Explorers will try to defeat the Hawks and earn first place in next week's A-10 tournament.
La Salle enters at 12-4 (5-1 in conference) and riding a seven-game winning-streak. The Hawks are ranked 14
th in the country with a 13-4 record, undefeated in conference at 6-0.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle comes off of a 2-0 weekend with a 2-1 win over VCU in 2OT and a 3-2 win over William & Mary on Sunday.
- Clara Larripa continues to shine as she scored two goals in the pivotal win over VCU including the game-winner in double overtime.
- The stand-out freshman has 12 goals on the season leading all players in the A-10 conference.
- Tatum Johnson performed strong in the two games last weekend tallying one goal and two assists in the two wins.
- Emily Streib continued her strong season last week with eight total saves across the two games, seven against William & Mary.
- Graduate student Julianna Smyth will be facing her former team tomorrow one year removed from winning a conference championship with Saint. Joe's.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS:
- Saint Joseph's enters tomorrow on a three-game winning-streak most recently beating Temple 2-1 last Sunday.
- Senior forward Manu Ghigliotti is the player to watch for the Hawks. She sits second in the A-10 in goals scored, right behind Larripa with 11.
- In their last three games the Hawks have scored 11 goals and only given up one.
- Janelle Ward is the starting goalie for SJU and enters tomorrow with a .658 save percentage.
