Explorers set to Face Richmond Friday, Dartmouth Sunday

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The La Salle Field Hockey team hosts back-to-back home games Friday and Sunday. Show support by wearing pink at The Proving Grounds on Friday against A-10 opponent Richmond for the Breast-Cancer Awareness Game.  Sunday, the Explorers take on Dartmouth for the Alumni Game at Ellen Vagelos Field at The University of Pennsylvania.  

The match against Richmond is set to start at 3 p.m. The match against Dartmouth is set to start at noon. Follow along during the games on X @LaSalleFH and on Instagram @lasallefh

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:

  • The La Salle Field Hockey team faced Queens University in their last matchup on Sunday winning 7-0. 

  • The Explorers are now 7-4 with a 2-1 conference record. They are 3-1 at home thus far. 

  • Sophia Wasyliw recorded her first career hat-trick. Clara Larippa, Quinn Medico, Paige Doyle, and Cat McFadden each tallied a goal apiece. 

  • Doyle recorded 5 points in her last 2 matches. 

  • The Explorers dominated on both sides of the ball with lockdown defense holding Queens to just a single shot. 

  • Larippa leads the Explorers in points (16) and goals (seven). Larippa and Sofia Pla both lead the team in assists with two. 

  • La Salle averages 13.7 shots per game and allows 10 shots per game. 

  • The Explorers beat the Spiders 1-0 in their matchup last year in Richmond. La Salle also won their last home game against Richmond.  

  • The Explorers meet the Big Green in field hockey for the first time in school history. 

SCOUTING THE SPIDERS: 

  • Richmond (6-4) had their four-game winning streak snapped in a 4-3 loss to Lock Haven on Friday. Cori Nicholas recorded a goal and an assist in that game.  

  • Alexandria Lavelle leads the Spiders in points (14) and assists (six). Stevie Drum leads the team in goals with five.  

  • Richmond averages 16.5 shots per game and allows 9.4 shots per game. 

  • Richmond is led by Head Coach Jamie Montgomery. She is in her sixth year at the helm. 

SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN: 

  • Dartmouth (4-4) fell to New Hampshire in their last matchup 3-2. 

  • Lila Browne scored both goals for the Big Green. Browne leads the team in points (13) and goals (five). Meg Barnes leads the team in assists with four. 

  • Dartmouth are 2-3 in their last five games. 

  • Dartmouth is led by Head Coach Mark Egner. He is in his third season as head coach.
