SAINT LOUIS, Mo. - Saint Louis' Diego Konincks scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute to break a scoreless tie and send the La Salle men's soccer team home with a tough 1-0 loss on Saturday evening. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• A defensive battle for much of the evening, the two teams combined for just a single shot on goal through the first 45 minutes of action.
• The best opportunity for the Explorers came in the 27th minute when a centering pass found Dylan Kwasnik alone from about 15 yards out. Kwasnik fired a shot that went wide.
• Saint Louis came out in the second half and controlled the pace of play, but La Salle's defense was up to the task for the majority.
• In the 73rd minute, the match took a turn when Evan Watt was issued his second yellow card of the match and sent off, putting La Salle down a man for the remainder of the match.
• SLU took advantage with just about five minutes remaining, as a header by Konincks from point-blank range gave the home team a lead it would keep over the final minutes.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• La Salle had three shots on the match, all of which came in the first half.
• Sophomore Filip Sabatti had four saves in net for the Explorers.
• Saint Louis had 22 shots, only five of which were on goal, and 18 corner kicks for the match.
