BALTIMORE, Md. – The women's swimming and diving team secured their first win of the young 2023-24 season against UMBC 178-121
The men came up just shy losing to the Retrievers 155-145. Both teams will be back in action in the first home meet of the season on Saturday, Oct. 21
st against Drexel.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The women's 200-medley team of Lauren Fenn, Carlota Ungo, Tori Fenn, and Toni Rafferty took first place with a 1:48.31 time.
- George Williamson earned his third individual win of the season in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 9:52.97.
- The first win of the season for Felicia Rogell came in the women's 200-yard freestyle with a pace of 1:58.30.
- The women's 100-yard backstroke was won by Rosalia Marin-Martinez, her first win of the 23-24 season.
- Ungo secured her second victory of the meet in the women's 100-yard breaststroke swimming at a 1:07.22 time.
- Andrea Savoca is proving to be a force in his second meet with the Explorers. He earned his second individual win of the season in the 100-yard breaststroke.
- Another win on the women's side came from Sam Boyes. Her 2:13.22 time in the 200-yard butterfly was good enough for the top spot.
- Felix Jedbratt came in first place in the men's 200-yard butterfly.
- The men and women's 50-yard freestyle were won by La Salle's Toni Rafferty and Zack Miller.
- Explorers diving completed a clean sweep of their four events. Lucas Dekaney took first in the men's one-meter and three-meter, while Tiffany Brawn took first in the women's one-meter and Payton DeCook took the first-place spot in the three-meter.
- Ungo's third win of the meet came in the 200-yard breaststroke. Savoca took the first-place spot in the same event for the men.
- Williamson took first in the second distance race by the men in the 500-yard free.
- In both 100-yard butterfly events Toni Rafferty took first for the women, and Jedbratt for the men.
- Rogell won the 200-yard IM for the Explorers.
- Both men and women 400-yard freestyle teams took first place for the Explorers.
