Men's Swimming and Diving | November 4, 2023
VILLANOVA, Pa. – Both men and women's swim and dive fell to the Villanova Wildcats on Saturday afternoon.
The men are still in search for their first team win of the young season, while the women drop their second meet in a row.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- George Williamson is continuing his early success this season and did so in the men's 1000-yard freestyle coming in first with a time of 9:47.31.
- The standout rookie to the Explorers, Andrea Savoca, swam to a top finish in the men's 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 56.43.
- Toni Rafferty has been a consistent force on the women's side in the sprints. She took gold in the 50-freestyle with a time of 24.09.
- In the women's 100-freestyle, Rafferty followed up her performance in the 50-yard with first-place finish in the 100. Her time was 52.80.
- Zack Miller has also been a strong performer in the men's sprints for La Salle this season. His 46.84 time in the men's 100-yard freestyle was enough to get him first.
- Savoca also won in the men's 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:08.21.
- The women's 200-yard IM was won by Felicia Rogell for the Explorers. She swam the event in 2:11.74.
- The 200-IM on the men's side was taken by Savoca, his third individual win of the meet.
- The women's 400-yard freestyle relay was won by a team of Explorers. Rafferty, Tori Fenn, Rosalia Marin-Martinez, and Ava Carter swam to a 3:32.78 first-place finish.
- That same event was won by La Salle men. Miller, Caleb Ingham, Carter Perkins, and Austin Wakefield took gold in a time of 3:09.83.
UP NEXT:
- In two weeks, the swimmers will travel to Queens University in Charlotta, N.C. for the Fall Frenzy. The event will run from Friday, November 17 to Sunday, November 19.
