PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The La Salle women's basketball team will host the Fordham Rams in an early-morning matchup for Kids Day on Thursday, Feb. 16 in Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center. Tipoff is at 11 a.m. and the game will stream live on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle enters the contest at 15-11 on the season and 6-5 in Atlantic 10 play after snapping a three-game skid with a 72-56 victory over Duquesne at home on Super Bowl Sunday. The critical win has kept the Explorers in the over .500 category in conference competition.
- Nine different Explorers put up points in the contest led by Kayla Spruill with a team-high 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting including 3-of-5 from the long range and 2-of-2 from the foul line. The contest marked her first in double-digits since playing Loyola Chicago on Jan. 22 and her 14th game with 10-plus points this season.
- Spruill's three three-pointers in the game surpassed the program's all-time three-point record of 208 set by Jamie Walsh (2006-10). The graduate student currently sits atop of the leaderboard with 210 career threes.
- Mia Jacobs' 12 points in the game now puts her at 12 games this season with double-digits. She has reached 10-plus points in nine of the 10 A-10 games she has played in this year. Her 5-of-6 performance from the line against the Dukes marks her 13th game where she has sunk at least four buckets from the foul line.
- Molly Masciantonio put up 12 points in the game marking her fifth game of the season in double figures. The graduate student continues to rank first in the nation in assist to turnover ratio with a mark of 4.33. She has recorded 14 games with one or zero turnovers this season.
- The Explorers had quite the performance from beyond the arc in the game sinking a season-high 15 threes. The mark sits just one three away from tying the single-game program record for threes set by the Explorers last season.
- La Salle continues to be perfect when leading at the half this season going 12-0 when holding the advantage after the first 20 minutes. The Explorers have also found great success when holding the advantage at the boards dropping just one contest, 9-1, when winning the battle at the boards.
SCOUTING THE RAMS:
- Fordham enters the contest at 16-9 on the season and 8-4 in conference play having ost its most recent contest to Massachusetts by a single point, 80-79.
- The Rams' offense is currently averaging 73.8 points per game which, if continues, would set a new program record besting 1983-84's mark of 73.2
- Earlier this season against Wagner, Fordham set the record for most points in any half in program history, by seven, with 59, with the eighth-most total points, 95, and second most assists, 28.
- The Rams starting lineup had a combined 498 games played among them prior to the start of the season. With Megan Jonassen's 129 appearances and Jada Dapa's 112 now included that number is 590.
- Asiah Dingle set a new record for the Rams with 10 steals in the victory over Saint Peter's. The team chipped in 11 steals to set a new program record of 21 in the game. She leads the Rams offense with 19.4 points per game shooting 45.4% from the field.
- Anna DeWolfe is also averaging double-figures for Fordham recording 18.4 points per game shooting 43.6% from the field.
SERIES HISTORY:
- The Explorers lead the Rams in the all-time series 35-16 while holding a 17-8 advantage when hosting Fordham at home in Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center.
- La Salle kicked off the 2021-22 Atlantic 10 play last season with a nine-point victory over the Rams to cut an eight-game skid in the overall series.
- The last contest was a record-breaking day for the Explorers as Kayla Spruill earned her 1,000th career point in the Blue & Gold in the game.
- La Salle has not beat the Rams at home in 11 years with its last victory dating back to Jan. 11, 2012.
