The Explorers Fall on the Road to Villanova

Villanova, P.A. – La Salle lacrosse ends their three-game road trip to start the season with a loss to the Villanova Wildcats.
 
La Salle will return home with a 0-3 record ahead of their home-opener next week.
 
How it Happened –
  • The Wildcats jumped out to an early 4-0 lead within the first six minutes of the game.
  • Mackenzie Click got the Explorers on the board after she got a centering pass from Molly Maloney and put it into the bottom corner of the net.
  • After Villanova scored three more goals, Alana Lathan scored her third goal on the season for La Salle. Lathan crossed the face of the goalie and fired one to give La Salle their second goal.
  • Katie Johnson helped La Salle get back into the game scoring the team's third goal of the game making it 8-3 Villanova. The goal came on a deflection.
  • Maddie Henderson cut the Nova lead in half after her third goal of the season. Henderson fought through three defenders to make the score 8-4.
  • After a 7-0 Villanova run, Henderson scored her second goal of the game on a free position shot that went to the goalie's right.
  • Mackenzie Click scored her second goal of the game on a bouncing free position shot.
  • Sara Grassi got her first goal of the year after dodging two defenders to get the shot off in front of the net.
 
Inside the Numbers –
  • La Salle was 17-20 on clears during today's contest.
  • Click and Henderson scored two goals each.
  • The Explorers had 21 shots, with 14 of those being on goal.
  • As a team, La Salle had 10 draw controls, with Henderson leading the way with three of her own.
 
Up Next –
  • The Explorers will compete in the first game at McCarthy Stadium this season next Wednesday, March 1st at 1:00 p.m. against Lehigh.
  • The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
