Amherst, Mass. – La Salle lacrosse lost to No. 16 ranked UMASS Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Explorers will continue their search for the first win on the season on Saturday against VCU.
 
How it Happened –

• The Minutewomen got off to a hot start early in the game as they were up 7-0 before the Explorers got on the board.
• Maddie Henderson was the first to strike for La Salle scoring her 11^th goal on the season to tie her for the lead on the team.
• Ellen Stickney scored for La Salle to make it 8-2 UMASS, with that being her seventh goal as an Explorer.
• A free-position opportunity for Emily Varilla gave her the chance to give La Salle their third goal, and she converted. The score would then be 10-3.
• Katie Johnson would score before the half ended sending the teams to the break with a score of 11-4.
• Early in the second half Johnson would add her second goal of the game, her seventh of the season.

 
Inside the Numbers –

• Katie Johnson led the team in today's game with two goals.
• Stickney and Henderson each had two points on the day, one goal and one assist.
• The Explorers had 28 total ground balls corralled during the game.

 
Up Next –

• The Explorers will return to McCarthy Stadium on Saturday, March 25 at 1:00 p.m. to take on the VCU Rams in A-10 Conference play.
