Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

La Salle Loses Conference Matchup with Virginia Commonwealth

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Explorers lacrosse dropped a conference game to VCU by a score of 16-5.
 
La Salle is still in search for their first win of the season.
 
How it Happened –
  • Alana Lathan had a free-position opportunity early in the first quarter and converted to give the Explorers the early 1-0 lead. This is her 12th goal on the season.
  • The Rams were able to tie the game up before Katie Johnson regained the lead for La Salle. Lathan assisted Johnson on the goal.
  • VCU then went on a seven-goal run before the Explorers scored next. Ellen Stickney got the team's third goal on a free-position attempt in the second quarter.
  • Tori Rolon then scored her 5th goal of the year to cut the Ram's lead to four goals. La Salle trailed 8-4 with 5:54 left in the first half.
  • VCU scored the next four goals before the half ended and the teams went to the break with VCU leading 12-4.
  • Maddie Henderson added on for the Explorers in the third quarter, this being the lone La Salle goal scored in the second half. Henderson is tied for the team lead in goals scored with 12 on the year.

  • Five different Explorers got on the board in today's game.
  • Lathan led La Salle in points with her one goal and one assist.
  • La Salle was 13-15 on clears.
  • The team had 11 total draw controls with Raquel Nieves and Grace Lord each securing three.

  • La Salle will return to McCarthy Stadium next Saturday, April 1st at 1:00 p.m. as they host the Saint Joseph's Hawks.
