Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Mackenzie Click Tallies Five Points, but the Explorers are Downed by Duquesne

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – La Salle women's lacrosse fell to the Duquesne Dukes by a score of 21-12 on Saturday afternoon.
 
How it Happened –
  • La Salle got off to an early 1-0 lead from a free-position goal from Alana Lathan. This marked Lathan's 16th goal on the year.
  • The Dukes would then tie the game at one, but Lathan added her second goal on the afternoon on another free-position shot.
  • Duquesne would then go on a four-goal run before Lola Quigley would add on for La Salle. She hauled in a pass from Mackenzie Click to make it 5-3, Duquesne.
  • With six minutes remaining in the half, Duquesne found themselves up 9-3, before La Salle went on their own scoring run to end the half.
  • It started when Click and Lathan teaming up on a goal that gave Click her second point of the day.
  • Quigley would score her second goal, with another assist from Click, making the score 9-5 Dukes.
  • Claudia Steinmetz then scored off a pass from Quigley to put La Salle down by three. Click would score 30-seconds later to make it 9-7.
  • With two second left in the half, Steinmetz took a pass from Katie Johnson to make it a 9-8 game heading into the break.
  • Duquesne would score three-straight goals to open the second half, and then Maddie Henderson scored La Salle's ninth goal.
  • Ellen Stickney scored off a pass from Johnson to get the Explorers within two goals.
  • With four-minutes remaining in the third, Duquesne was up 14-10, before Steinmetz added another La Salle goal.
  • Stickney would score in the fourth to get her second goal of the game.
 
Inside the Numbers –
  • Steinmetz finished the day with three goals, and four points total.
  • Click led the team with five points, two goals and three assists.
  • Five Explorers had multi-goal games.
  • Each team shot 32 times throughout the contest.
  • La Salle was 15-17 on clear attempts.
  • La Salle led the way with 16 ground balls.
  • The teams were even at 18 draw controls each.

  • The Explorers will travel to St. Bonaventure next Saturday, April 22 at 12:00 p.m. to take on the Bonnies.
