Explorers Fall in Back-and-Forth Battle with St. Bonaventure

St. Bonaventure, NY – Explorers lacrosse fought until the very end, but came up short losing to the Bonnies 11-10.
 
La Salle will return home for their final game of the season against Davidson on senior day.
 
How it Happened –
  • The Bonnies came out and started scoring early. After the first period of play they lead by a score of 4-0.
  • La Salle started to chip at the St. Bonaventure lead with a goal coming from Sara Grassi.
  • Alana Lathan scored her 18th goal of the season to cut the Bonnie lead in half with seven minutes remaining in the second quarter.
  • After a yellow card was enforced on St. Bonaventure, Maddie Henderson continued the Explorer scoring streak and brought La Salle within one goal of the lead at 4-3.
  • With just over a minute remaining in the first half, Fiona McGovern scored her second goal for the Bonnies to give them a 5-3 lead at the half.
  • Lathan would score her second goal of the game early in the third quarter to once against get La Salle within one goal.
  • With 17 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Ellen Stickney converted on the woman-up, free position goal to tie the game at five goals each.
  • The Bonnies opened the fourth by retaking the lead, but Mackenzie Click responded with a goal of her own to tie things back up at six.
  • The teams continued to go back and forth throughout the fourth quarter. The Bonnies took the 7-6 lead, but Stickney tied it back up.
  • After the 7-7 tie, the Bonnies went on a 4-0 goal run to eventually be up 11-7.
  • Claudia Steinmetz scored on the free position attempt, bringing La Salle within three.
  • Stickney scored her third of the game making it an 11-9 Bonnie lead.
  • Click found the back of the net with seven seconds left in the game, which unfortunately was too late for the Explorers.
 
Inside the Numbers –
  • Ellen Stickney scored her first hat trick with the Explorers today and totaled four points by assisting on one of La Salle's goals.
  • Mackenzie Click had two goals and an assist in today's contest.
  • La Salle took 27 total shots on the day, with Stickney and Click each shooting six.
  • Raquel Nieves caused two turnovers during the game.
  • Julia Dellaratta saved 10 balls that came her way.

  • La Salle will return to Philadelphia for the final game of the season against the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday, April 29 at 12:00 p.m.
  • The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
