CHERRY HILL, N.J. — The La Salle women's rowing team concluded with three top-six finishes in the Petite Finals of the Knecht Cup Regatta on Sunday on the Cooper River.
The Explorers' 2
nd Varsity 8+, coxswained by
Arya Singh, had the best finish between the three La Salle boats after finishing second in a time of 7:07.59. The Explorers finished 1.43 seconds behind Villanova for first and beat out city rival Saint Joseph's for second by 12.03 seconds.
The Explorers' Varsity 8+, coxed by
Marissa Paul, took fourth in its Petite Final after clocking a 7:17.91. The Explorers finished behind West Virginia (7:03.97), Duquesne (7:07.09), and Villanova (7:09.11), but beat out Saint Joseph's (7:24.82) and Stetson (7:38.23), respectively.
The Explorers' Varsity 4+, coxed by
Sam Ojeme, came away with a sixth-place finish in its final in 8:37.27.
"We truly took control today as a team, and I'm extremely proud of our execution," La Salle head coach Kelsey Franks said. "In the eights, we had some of our best races to date. In the Varsity 4, we're learning how to maximize every opportunity and build together. We left the river today with a great balance of belief, confidence, and focus on finding even more speed."
The Explorers will return to the Schuylkill River next Saturday to compete in the Kerr Cup.
