Fawcett, Farkas, Boyle of Men’s Rowing Selected to PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team

Explorers’ trio named three of nine athletes on team as voted on by SID offices of 30 institutions from Philly area

PHILADELPHIATrevor Fawcett, Patrik Farkaš, and Elizabeth Boyle of the La Salle men's rowing team have been named to the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (PhillySIDA) Academic All-Area Men's Rowing Team as announced by the organization Wednesday.
 
Fawcett, Farkaš, and Boyle were three of nine athletes selected to the team as voted on by the sports information offices of 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
 
Fawcett made the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team for the second straight season following a standout senior campaign on the water.
 
The senior coxswain directed the Varsity 8+ boat to the highest national ranking in La Salle history after it finished 18th in the country following a sixth-place finish in the C final at the IRA National Championship in a time of 5:55.84. Fawcett also led the V8 to a silver medal at the Dad Vail Regatta in 5:43.29 for boat's highest finish at Dad Vails since 1958.
 
In the classroom, Fawcett has been fantastic, posting a 3.7 GPA as an accounting major. He was also selected as La Salle's Male Scholar-Athlete Winner for 2022-23.
 
Farkaš was selected to the Academic All-Area Team for the first time after being a key cog for the V8 in his first year on 20th and Olney.
 
Sitting in the 2 and 4 seats this season, Farkaš helped the V8 not only earn its highest national ranking in program history and silver medal at Dad Vails, but he also assisted them to silvers at the Murphy Cup (5:45.25), Kerr Cup (6:41.0), and Bergen Cup (5:26.0). In addition, the graduate student aided the V8 to bronze medals at the Knecht Cup (5:59.43) and Windermere Cascade Cup (6:04.36) in Seattle, Wash.
 
Farkaš also stood out in the classroom, posting a 3.72 GPA while majoring in business systems and analytics.
 
Boyle garnered her first PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team honor after shining as the coxswain of the 2nd Varsity 8+ boat for the Explorers.
 
The senior helped the 2V8 conclude the season as the 16th-ranked team in the country, the highest ranking in La Salle history, after it placed fourth in the C final at the IRA National Championship in a time of 6:02.88. Boyle also led the 2V8 to a fourth-place finish at the Dad Vail Regatta in 5:56.63 and gold medals at the both Murphy Cup (5:45.25) and Kerr Cup (6:41.0). She also directed the 2V8 to a silver medal at the Bergen Cup and a bronze medal at the Knecht Cup.
 
Boyle also excelled in the classroom, posting a 3.8 GPA as a political science major. Next year, Boyle will be attending the prestigious Durham University in Durham, England, where she will continue her rowing career while pursuing a master's degree in international relations.
