Pereira Notches a Pair of Goals as the Explorers and Skyhawks Start 2023 with a Draw.

EASTON, Mass. – Americo Pereira scored his first two collegiate goals in a tight contest where La Salle would fight back from three one-goal deficits to end in a 3-3 draw against Stonehill.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Early in the contest both teams took few shots, but the first of the match belonged to Justin Brunow that missed wide left of the net.
  • Freshman Yuval Nimrodi added offensive pressure for the Explorers as he added a shot missing over the top of the net.
  • On only the second shot of the match for the Skyhawks, Jarod Rapoza broke open the scoring with a shot that found its way over the goalkeeper's glove and into the back of the net.
  • In the 37th minute a shot by Giammarco Rodio forced a rebound off the Stonehill goalie, which would draw a foul in the Explorers favor that included a penalty kick. The PK was taken by Rodio and he connected on a shot that went behind Carlos Dias Neto and tied the game for La Salle.
  • The Blue & Gold would end the first half on an offensive possession featuring quick passing, decision making, and two close shots by returning senior Aimar Leunda.
  • The second half would begin with a Stonehill goal coming from Colin Milliken that would give them the lead 2-1.
  • Sophomore America Pereira scored his first collegiate goal in today's contest that would tie the game up. Pereira would receive a pass from Drew Blackwell just in front of the net and used his head to give La Salle the equalizer.
  • The second penalty kick of the game went against the Explorers and give Milliken the opportunity for his second goal and the lead back for Stonehill. The Skyhawk took a shot to the top left corner of the net and would put them back on top 3-2.
  • Andrew Rosenbaum and Evan Watt aided on another Pereira goal in the 77th minute of the game to tie the game up at three goals. Rosenbaum had a deep throw in that would land just short of the goal, Watt headed the pass and Pereira would tap the ball past the diving Skyhawks goalkeeper.
  • The remaining 13 minutes would be an exchange of possessions riddled with substitutions, but to no avail for either side as the score would result in a 3-3 draw after 90 minutes of play.
