PRINCETON, N.J. — The La Salle women's soccer team lost its second straight, falling to Princeton, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
With the loss, the Explorers dropped to 1-3 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Looking for their first win against the Tigers since 2011, the Explorers had a tough time against them in the first half, as they only managed two shots in the first 45 minutes. Ricshya Walker took an attempt in the sixth minute that went high over the net and Haley Gschrey kicked a ball that went over the top right of the goal in the 18th minute.
- Six minutes later, the Tigers managed to get on the scoreboard after putting in a goal on a broken play. Then, the Tigers added a goal in the 28th minute to take a 2-0 advantage that they carried into halftime.
- In the second half, the Explorers could not stop the Tigers, as Princeton tallied three goals. The Tigers put in their third goal in the 48th minute and found the back of the net again in the 53rd minute to take a 4-0 advantage. The Tigers added their final goal in the 85th minute on a penalty kick.
- The Explorers only had one shot in the second half, as Courtney Butlion tried to boot the ball toward the goal, but it was blocked by a Princeton defender.
GAME NOTES
- The Explorers allowed five goals in a game for the first time since Sept. 5, 2021, when they dropped a 5-0 contest to No. 16 Rutgers.
- The Explorers were outshot, 26-3, in the game and did not record a shot on goal for the first time since Sept. 17, 2017, when they lost 1-0 to West Virginia.
- With her one shot in the game, Walker increased her team lead in shot attempts to nine on the season. Gschrey follows Walker in that category with eight shots.
- Goalkeeper Michela Auguadro did all she could for La Salle in net, finishing the game with five saves.
- La Salle dropped to 1-8-2 against Princeton in the teams' all-time series.

- The Explorers return to Philadelphia to host Seton Hall on Thursday night in the first of two straight home games at McCarthy Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
