PHILADELPHIA — Ricshya Walker scored a pair of goals and
Gabby Picco added one to lead the La Salle women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Seton Hall on Thursday night at McCarthy Stadium.
With the victory, the Explorers improved to 2-3 on the season. In addition, the win was their first one at home this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Explorers caught fire on offense in the first half, as Walker found the back of the net in the 12th minute on a breakaway for her first goal of the season.
- Ten minutes later, Picco delivered her first career goal off a free kick from Emily Banashefski to give La Salle a 2-0 advantage.
- Then, in the 26th minute, Walker headed in her second goal off a double assist from Banashefski and Elizabeth Estrada during a corner kick to help the Explorers take a 3-0 advantage.
- Seton Hall scored its goal in the 41st minute to make it a 3-1 La Salle lead at halftime.
- In the second half, the Explorers prevented the Pirates from coming back, limiting them to only five shots — none of which were on goal — to pick up the victory.
GAME NOTES
- The Explorers earned their second straight win over Seton Hall after beating the Pirates, 1-0, last season at Seton Hall.
- Walker's two shots gave her 11 shots on the season, which leads La Salle. Walker also paces the Explorers in shots on goal with six.
- Goalkeeper Gabby Neal earned her second victory in net after making two saves.
- Estrada's assist on Walker's second goal gave her three assists, which leads the Explorers in that category.
