PHILADELPHIA — Elizabeth Estrada scored her first career goal, but it wasn't enough for the La Salle women's soccer team as it lost a 3-1 match to Bucknell on Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.
With the loss, the Explorers slipped to 2-4 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Estrada scored her goal in the 15th minute for the Explorers by booting the ball into the top right corner to give them a 1-0 lead over the Bison.
- The Explorers' advantage didn't last long, as the Bison (3-2-1) got the equalizer three minutes after the ball they kicked bounced off the right post and into the net.
- Then, in the 24th minute, Bucknell took a 2-1 lead over La Salle after it scored on a header off a corner kick.
- From there, the Bison added an insurance goal in the 35th minute by knocking their third goal into the net from the right side.
- In the second half, the Explorers and Bison went back and forth, taking 10 shots apiece.
- The Explorers' best chances to score were in the 70th, 77th, and 88th minutes, respectively. Emily Banashefski took a shot in the 70th minute right inside the 18-yard line that was saved. Haley Gschrey had an opportunity to score from outside the 18 in the 77th minute, but her shot was also saved. In a last-minute effort, Estrada kicked a ball from the right side that ended up being saved as well.
GAME NOTES
- Estrada's goal gave her five points for the season. The sophomore midfielder also has three assists on the season.
- Estrada also had a career-high four shots and matched her career best in shots on goal with two.
- The Explorers managed to tie the Bison in shots with 16 for the game. The 16 shots were the most for the Explorers in a game this season.
- Goalkeepers Gabby Neal and Michela Auguadro split duties in net. Auguadro made six of the team's seven saves in the second half. The Explorers' seven saves were also the most they had in a game this season.

- The Explorers will travel to Newark, N.J. on Thursday to face NJIT. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
