LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Freshman
Yuval Nimrodi registered his third goal of the season to give the La Salle men's soccer team an early 1-0 lead in the first half of its match against Rider on Tuesday. The Broncs, however, responded with the equalizer close to halftime intermission, then tallied two second-half goals to come away with a 3-1 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 34th minute of action, Nimrodi rifled a shot into the right side of the goal to give the Explorers a 1-0 lead.
- As the match approached halftime, Ethan Gregory hit the post with his attempt. The rebound came right to teammate Martin Chladek in the 44th minute to put the score at 1-1.
- Rider took the lead for good in the 62nd minute when Babacar Diene finished a give-and-go from Zaki Alibou.
- The Broncs tacked on an insurance goal in the 85th minute, as Justin Ruffino scored his first goal of the season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Explorers had a number of their offensive runs negated by offsides calls, as they were called for five on the night.
- La Salle and Rider each earned eight corner kicks for the match.
- The Broncs held the advantage in shots at 13-6, eight of which were on frame.
- Filip Sabatti made five saves for the Explorers, while Adam Salama had a pair for Rider.
