Women’s Soccer To Go Up Against Bucknell

PHILADELPHIA — The La Salle women's soccer team goes for its second straight victory on Sunday afternoon when it takes on Bucknell in a non-conference match at McCarthy Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

The game will be televised on ESPN+. In addition, Explorers fans can follow the team on X @LaSalle_WSOC and Instagram @lasalle_wsoc.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • The Explorers are coming off a 3-1 win over Seton Hall on Thursday night at home. The Explorers scored all three of their goals in the first half after Ricshya Walker put in two and Gabby Picco booted in one, marking the first time the team accomplished that feat since Oct. 9, 2022 against Fordham.
  • The Explorers and Bison are meeting for the first time.
  • Walker and junior Haley Gschrey lead La Salle in goals with two apiece. Walker also leads the team with 11 shots and six shots on goal.
  • Elizabeth Estrada paces the Explorers in assists (three). Emily Banashefski is second on the team with two assists.
  • Goalkeeper Gabby Neal is undefeated in two starts on the season. The sophomore has made six saves and allowed only two goals in four games in net this year.
  • La Salle is led by Paul Royal, who is in his 21st season at the helm. Royal has a 201-156-37 record for the Explorers.
ABOUT THE BISON
  • The Bison are 2-2-1 after tying Villanova, 1-1, on Thursday at home. The Bison's two wins were against Saint Joseph's (4-0) and George Washington (3-1), respectively, Their only losses were to No. 20 Georgetown (1-0) and No. 21 Pitt (5-0), respectively.
  • The Bison are paced by Henna Andican, who has totaled eight points on three goals and two assists. The sophomore forward also leads Bucknell in shots (15) and shots on goal (11).
  • Defensively, goalkeeper Jenna Hall heads Bucknell's unit, saving 34 shots while yielding only eight goals this season.
  • Bucknell is led by Kelly Cook, who is in her ninth year as head coach. Cook has an 73-57-20 record.
