PHILADELPHIA — The La Salle women's soccer team won its second straight Atlantic 10 Conference match by posting a 3-0 victory over Richmond on a rainy Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win, the Explorers are now 2-1 in A-10 play and 4-5-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Explorers and Spiders battle back and fourth in between the midfield for the majority of the first half. Both teams took two shots through the first 38 minutes, but Richmond held a 3-2 advantage over the Explorers in corner kicks.
- Then in the 39th minute, DiElmo booted in her first career goal from the left side off a double assist from Courtney Butlion and Olivia Vricella to give the Explorers a 1-0 lead, which they would take into halftime.
- In the second half, the Explorers increased their advantage to 2-0 in the 67th minute after Justyce Hollenbach fired in a goal from the left side off a DiElmo pass.
- Nine minutes later, Butlion converted a penalty kick after Madison McCready was fouled in the box to give La Salle a 3-0 lead and put the exclamation point on the victory.
GAME NOTES
- DiElmo's goal also was her first career game-winning goal. The junior forward also notched her second career assist on Hollenbach's goal.
- Hollenbach's goal marked her third score of the season. The sophomore forward is now tied for the team lead with Haley Gschrey.
- By scoring on the PK, Butlion tallied her second goal of the season.
- Goalie Michela Auguadro and the Explorers earned their second straight shutout victory of the season. Auguadro made one save in the victory.

- The Explorers will host VCU in another A-10 match on Thursday night at McCarthy Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
