HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Emilee Tahata brought the offensive fire for the Explorers right out of the gate. The junior converted on a mid-range shot and a three-point shot on back-to-back possessions.
  • One of the A-10 Conference's best players Talya Brugler started this game the way she has every game this season. The size of Brugler under the basket gave La Salle problems from the start and she had 11 points within the first seven minutes of the game.
  • Despite that fast start by Brugler, La Salle controlled a majority of the other Hawks in the first. After a late three-point conversion from Gabby Turco La Salle found themselves down 16-8 after one.
  •  The Explorers in the second quarter continued to limit the Hawk offense and take advantage of their own opportunities offensively.
  • For a majority of the game, especially in the second quarter, Makayla Miller and Emilee Tahaha drove the La Salle offense, and throughout the second they did just that.
  • Miller hit a three-point shot to give her five on the day halfway through the second, bringing La Salle within four.
  • Down 19-17 with 1:27 remaining in the half, Emilee Tahata sunk her eight and ninth point at a crucial moment. The Explorers tied the game up, but a late three-point shot gave Saint Joe's the edge heading into the break.
  • A driving layup to start the third by Miller brought La Salle within one, down 21-22. Laura Ziegler hit a three prior to Emilee Tahata sinking one of her own to bring La Salle within one point again.
  • From that point on, Talya Brugler and Ziegler took matters into their own hands and pulled the Hawks away.
  • The Hawk duo combined for 42 of the St. Joe's 64 points by the end of the game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Emilee Tahata scored a career-high 12 points in today's contest, and went 2-2 from three-point range.
  • Makayla Miller tallied her fifth straight game in double-digit points (14). She took her most attempted shots in today's game in that stretch.
  • Nicole Melious, Miller, and Tahata all converted on two three-point shots, the most among the Explorers today.
  • La Salle held the lead for over a minute in today's game, and also brought things to a tie score at three separate points.
