Men's Soccer Loses Tight Match to St. Bonaventure

PHILADELPHIA –The La Salle men's soccer team fell to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies by a score of 1-0 Saturday night. With the loss, the team's record moves to 4-6-3 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Explorers had the first shot on goal in the 11th minute, when the Bonnies goalie saved an attempt directly from a corner, which was taken by Drew Blackwell.
  • St. Bonaventure converted on its first shot on goal in the game to make it 1-0 in the 25th minute.
  • Goalie Randy Burkhardt made three saves in a span of two minutes, starting with his stop in the 26th minute. His later two saves would come in a span of 30 seconds.
  • Daniel Smith fired a shot in the 35th minute that was saved right in front of goal by the opposing goalie.
  • Giammarco Rodio headed a ball on goal in the 37th minute that was quickly caught by the goalie.
  • To start the second half, Burkhardt made two stops in the first seven minutes to keep the Explorers in it.
  • In the 70th minute, Rodio had another shot on frame, but it too was saved by the St. Bonaventure keeper.
  • After a save in the 77th minute, Burkhardt pushed out a dangerous shot for a corner in the 80th minute.
  • La Salle's last chance came in the 88th minute, when Robert Myrick's close-range shot went over the bar.
GAME NOTES:
  • Goalie Randy Burkhardt recorded a career-high eight saves in the match.
  • Rodio led the Explorers in shots with four.
  • Shots were 17-15 in favor of St. Bonaventure.
