Explorers Offense Explodes for Six Goals in Decisive Victory

PHILADELPHIA – – The La Salle men's soccer team finished the weekend with a complete team effort, easily winning 6-0 against the Neumann Knights. La Salle's record improves to 5-6-3 with the result.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Explorers would spend the entire game putting shots on goal and just outside the goal frame, firing shots from all angles.
  • Drew Blackwell sent in a long ball for Giammarco Rodio in the 14th minute, whose one-timer shot went over the goalie and in for the game's first score.
  • In the 21st minute, Tino Kneis dove up to make a great save to keep 1-0.
  • Blackwell would get his second assist in the 34th minute. A quick counter after a Neumann free kick led to Andoni Garrogerricaechebarria, who passed it to Blackwell. Blackwell's through ball to Dylan Kwasnik got him one-on-one with the goal, and Kwasnik chipped it over for the score.
  • From then until halftime, La Salle would fire a barrage of shots on goal, including in the final ten seconds, but the score stayed 2-0 at the break.
  • After Colin Beasley's first pair of shots were saved, he finally converted in the 62nd minute, pickpocketing the ball from the goalie and slotting it in from close-range.
  • Beasley got his brace eight minutes later, as his header snuck into the near post for the fourth goal of the game.
  • In the next minute, Alexandru Zama got himself a goal, when his long-range shot curled into the upper-left corner.
  • Steven Arias, who made his collegiate debut, scored the final goal of the game off a cross by Michael Chiha.
  • Kneis would make two more saves in the second half to preserve the shutout.
GAME NOTES:
  • Goalie Tino Kneis, in his first start since Sept. 17, made three saves in the match, and recorded his fourth clean sheet of the season.
  • The team recorded a season-high 19 shots on goal, with three players each recording at least five shots on frame.
  • La Salle's six goals tonight were the most the team had recorded in one game since at least the 2001 season.
UP NEXT
