Women’s Soccer Drops at Dayton, 2-0

Box Score DAYTON, OH – La Salle women's soccer fell 2-0 on Thursday night to the A-10 leading Dayton Flyers, 2-0. The game was a rematch of last season's A-10 semi-finals, where the Explorers won 1-0 to advance.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Neither side gained much traction early, with Michela Auguadro saving the first shot on target in the 15th minute.
  • The keeper made another save a minute later. The Explorers generated offense with opportunities from Haley Gschrey and Ricshya Walker.
  • After another save from Auguadro, Dayton got on the board with an outstanding shot from Molly Russell in the 31st minute.
  • Auguadro made her fourth save of the first half shortly after the goal. Gschrey nearly broke through for the Explorers off a fantastic ball from beyond the top of the box. The Flyers scored a second time just before the half.
  • Both sides came out the gates ferociously, Olivia Vricella had a strong shot attempt in the 47th minute. It was the first of five combined shot attempts in the next ten minutes.
  • Sunni DiElmo earned the first shot attempt on target of the second half in the 68th minute.
  • The Explorers continued to push for the remainder of the game, with X shots, but could not break through.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Michela Auguadro made seven saves.
  • Haley Gschrey led all players with five shots.
  • Corner kicks were limited, with only six total attempts awarded.
