SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS
- The Explorers fell to conference leaders Dayton, 2-0, on the road on Thursday. Goalkeeper Michela Auguadro made her presence felt, with seven saves.
- Haley Gschrey leads the Explorers with eight goals, tying her team-leading total from last season. She is fifth all-time in La Salle career goals scored with 22.
- Auguadro has started every game this season as goalkeeper for La Salle. She is only the second player in program history who has reached the 20 clean sheet mark.
- This game comes at a critical time in the Atlantic-10 standings for La Salle. The Explorers are part of a three way tie for eighth in the league, the final spot for the playoffs. A win could vault them as high as sixth, while a loss could force a must scenario against Richmond.
- Gschrey also is tied for third in the league in assists with six.
- The Explorers are led by head coach Paul Royal, who enters his 22nd season at the helm. Royal is one of the top coaches in the Atlantic 10, earning five trips to the NCAA Tournament during his tenure and has sent 16 players to the professional ranks. He was voted A-10 Coach of the Year for the fifth time last season.
- Royal has amassed 218 wins in his head coaching career. He ranks 18th among active D1 coaches in wins at a single institution.
SCOUTING THE BILLIKENS
- A fixture in the top 25, Saint Louis is currently receiving votes in the top 25 and is ranked third in the regional rankings. The squad is 9-1-5 and 5-0-2 in conference play.
- SLU is 1-1-1 against ranked foes. Emily Gaebe leads the Atlantic-10 by a wide margin in goals (12). Saint Louis as a whole is second in goals and first in goals allowed.
- Katie Shields is at the helm of the Billikens in her 12th season. She has built a powerhouse, racking up double-digit wins in each of the last eight seasons.
