Cross Country Sweeps Individual Titles at A-10 Championships

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – The La Salle men's and women's cross country teams ran in the Atlantic 10 Championships Saturday morning, hosted by the University of Richmond. For the first time in the A-10 since 2008, both individual champions were from the same school, with MacCallum Rowe and Gwenno Goode winning the men's and women's races. It is the first time since 2006 that La Salle won both individual titles.

Overall, the men's team finished in fifth place, and the women's team got fourth place.
 
HOW THEY FINISHED (WOMEN)
  • The women's team scored a total of 123 points.
  • Gwenno Goode was the star of the race, becoming the A-10 Individual Champion with her time of 20:10.4 in the 6k event bringing her the title.
  • Goode's time was at least 28 seconds faster than every other athlete, and she won Most Outstanding Performer and All-Conference honors.
  • Helene Usher was next for the Explorers, getting 17th place with a time of 21:15.3.
  • Neve Moulai got 32nd place with her result of 21:38.7, followed by Lexy Rivard, who finished two seconds later to get 34th.
  • Amelia Artz received 40th place, crossing the line in 21:44.4.
  • Next was Amelia Green, who got 45th place with a time of 21:51.6.
  • Rounding out the scoring was Stella Hammond, who got 65th place with a time of 22:09.2.
HOW THEY FINISHED (MEN):
  • The men's team scored a total of 139 points.
  • MacCallum Rowe won the individual title, crossing the line in a time of 23:37.9 in the 8k event. His time broke the record for fastest men's result at the A-10 Championships, a record that had stood for 39 years. Rowe also won the awards of Most Outstanding Performance and All-Conference honors following the race.
  • Next to finish for La Salle was Matt Hill with a time of 24:39.5, finishing in 18th place.
  • James Ptack was third for the Explorers, getting a time of 25:01.2 to finish in 36th place.
  • Callum Murray finished four places later, getting a result of 25:04.2.
  • Fifth for La Salle was Teketel Tyson, whose time of 25:06 was good for 44th place.
  • Charlie Hazlett and David Butts rounded out the scoring for La Salle, getting times of 25:10.8 (50th place) and 25:13.3 (53rd place).
UP NEXT
  • The Explorers will head to State College, Pa. for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals. The meet is set to start at 12:00 p.m.
