HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The game opened up in back-and-forth fashion, which would be representative of the remainder of the contest. Mackenzie Daleba would be the biggest impact player early for La Salle.
  • The graduate student added the first handful of points for the Explorers, and contributed a few assists too.
  • The Blue & Gold held a two-point lead going into the second quarter, and built upon that lead, getting it up to six points at one point.
  • The Owls and Kayah Turner, however, would not go away easy. Turner single-handedly closed the gap on the lead, and tied the game at 19.
  • Ashleigh Connor got her day going in the second at a big time. The redshirt sophomore added eight points on the next three offensive possessions for La Salle to bring the lead back to six.
  • The Cherry & White, did not let that deter them. They picked it up on offense and would finish the half with a 38-30 lead.
  • La Salle opened the second chipping at the Temple lead, and eventually would overcome it. With 3:41 remaining in the quarter, Jolene Armendariz nailed a three-point bucket to take a two-point lead.
  • Armendariz would soon follow that up with a fastbreak layup to extend the lead, and La Salle would end the quarter up 51-47.
  • The fourth was a continuation of how the prior three quarters played, a back-and-forth battle. Temple would hold a two-point lead with just over a minute remaining, and Tarriyonna Gary called game.
  • The guard would nail a three-point bucket, and get fouled in the process for the four-point play.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • La Salle would have success on offense from four different members of the team. Aryss Macktoon scored 14 points, Ashleigh Connor 12, Ayisse Magassa 12, and Jolene Armendariz 11.
  • Connor would also finish with eight rebounds, leading the Explorers in that category.
  • The Explorers would yet again out-rebound a team that had a lot of size on them. Today winning the rebound battle 45-38.
