HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The opening half of the first quarter was rules by the Jaspers. Manhattan came out to a 4-0 lead in the first part of the opening frame.
  • Alana Lathan broke that scoring streak and got La Salle on the board with 7:24 left in the first.
  • Now down 6-1 in the final minute of the first, Ellen Stickney ended another Jasper scoring streak to cut the lead to 6-2.
  • The second quarter proved to be slightly better offensively, and much better defensively for La Salle.
  • Maddie Henderson added another goal for the Explorers with 5:41 remaining in the second, which was shortly there followed by a Mackenzie Click goal, her sixth of the season.
  • La Salle would surrender one more goal before the half expired, also adding one more thanks to Katie Johnson, the team's leading goal-getter. The Jaspers led 8-5 at halftime.
  • Reagan Mullins and Andrea Liotta came out of halftime by adding two more goals for the Jaspers.
  • Johnson would add her second goal of the game to make it 6-11 with 7:26 left in the third.
  • That goal for La Salle was followed up by another from Claudia Steinmetz to help in the comeback efforts.
  • Making her season debut in the contest, Melissa Hewitt notched her first career goal as the clock expired in the third, cutting the Manhattan lead to three.
  • Freshman Kate Licciardi scored her first career goal in the opening minutes of the fourth to help La Salle get within two goals.
  • Ashley Bonitch would add another for Manhattan, but that was short lived thanks to Johnson and her third goal of the day, Manhattan had only a two-goal lead.
  • Ellen Stickney would put La Salle within one with 2:33 left in regulation. And following that goal the Explorers would calla timeout and regroup before their final push.
  • The timeout proved to be pivotal, as Johnson scored the equalizing goal with 1:39 left in regulation. There would be no more goals and we would go to overtime.
  • The only shot from the Explorers in the first overtime came from Click, and it missed off the post, the best remaining opportunity for La Salle.
