PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University men's rowing team earned the No. 16 national ranking in the Intercollegiate
Rowing Coaches Association/Intercollegiate Rowing Association D1/D2 Preseason Top 25 Poll, which was released on Friday.
The Explorers began the year with an impressive victory over defending Dad Vail champion and local rival Drexel on the Schuylkill River. The Dragons enter the poll ranked No. 17 nationally.
Other nationally-ranked opponents on La Salle's schedule in 2024 include Georgetown (No. 18), who will tangle with the Explorers on March 28. The team will also take on No. 1 Cal, No. 8 Stanford, and No. 20 Oregon State at the Pac-12 Challenge on April 6-7.
Rounding out the Top 5 behind the Golden Bears are No. 2 Princeton, No. 3 Washington, No. 4 Yale, and No. 5 Harvard.
Last season, La Salle burst onto the national scene with a pair of boats concluding the season ranked in the Top 20 nationally. The Varsity 8+ closed in 19th place, while the Second Varsity 8+ finished tied for 21st in the final poll. At IRA National Championships, the 1V8 placed 18th at the event while the 2V8 closed in an impressive 16th position.
