HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Wildcats began the game fast on offense, controlling every draw, and taking advantage of early offensive possession.
  • After a handful of saves in the first couple of attempts for Brooke Nelson, Davidson finally connected thanks to Caroline Moran.
  • Following Moran's goal, the 'Cats added two more courtesy of the team's leading scorer, Josie Lambert and the game quickly swung in favor of Davidson, 3-0.
  • The first answer for the Explorers came from Alana Lathan, adding the team's first goal of the game with 3:38 remaining in the opening quarter.
  • Despite the early success on offense for Davidson, the La Salle defense tightened up throughout the rest of the first, while also adding one more goal in exciting fashion.
  • Brooke Nelson fended off a shot from Davidson as the quarter ticked down, Ellen Stickney would get the opportunity to drive down the field, and score, which is what she did as the horn blew.
  • Jenna Skibbe connected for Davidson to put them up 4-2, but Lathan would find her second score of the game to bring it back to a one-goal lead for the 'Cats.
  • Less than a minute later, Davidson would find the net again bringing the score to 5-3. With 6:24 remaining in the half, however, La Salle's leading goal-getter Katie Johnson added her 15th of the year to cut it to one goal again.
  • A free-position opportunity allowed Claudia Steinmetz to tie up the game, and she did just that, bounding the ball into the net past the goalie. Prior to the half's expiration, however, the Wildcats would break the tie, making it 6-5 at the half.
  •  The third quarter went similarly to the first half of the game. Davidson would build a three-goal lead, but it would be answered by the Explorers.
  • Mackenzie Click scored the sixth goal for La Salle in a woman-up opportunity. Ellen Stickney assisted on the goal and it cut the Davidson lead to 8-6.
  • Davidson's Lauren Garcia scored with 9:09 left in the third, which would quickly be answered by Johnson, her second goal of the day.
  • Unfortunately for La Salle, the 9-7 deficit would be the closest they got the rest of the game. Davidson would end the third and fourth on a 7-0 run.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Alana Lathan and Katie Johnson led the Explorers in goals today, each posting two in the loss. Johnson remains as the team's leading scorer.
  • Mackenzie Click, once again, would finish the game with the most draw controls collected in the game, this time with four. The team would only corral ten throughout, opposite Davidson's 15.
  • The Wildcats defense would be stellar on defense as the game would go on, forcing 16 turnovers from the Explorers.
  • Jenna Skibbe led both teams in goals scored today, totaling six.
