PHILADELPHIA - Under the direction of head coach and director of rowing
Ivo Krakic, the La Salle University men's rowing staff has been named a finalist for the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association Coaching Staff of the Year for a second straight seasons, it was announced by the organization on Wednesday. La Salle's coaching staff joins the national-championship winning University of Washington coaching staff as the two finalists for the award.
After a record-setting season in 2023, the Explorers followed that up with another fantastic year this past spring. The varsity eight and second varsity eight both earned rankings in the Top 20 nationally, with the V8 peaking at 16th in the country after an impressive victory over nationally-ranked Drexel at the Kerr Cup Regatta in April. The 2V8 also reached the No. 16 ranking after defeating three ranked teams to take gold at the Bergen Cup Regatta.
The varsity four boat started the season slow but captured a Dad Vail Regatta gold medal before taking part in IRA National Championships. At IRA's, all three of La Salle's boats beat their seed coming into the event - with the V8 finishing a program-record 17th, and the other two boats closing in 20th overall.
La Salle will conclude it's 2024 season at Henley Royal Regatta on July 2-7 in Henley-on-Thames, England. The Explorers will be making their first-ever appearance at the world-renowned event. Details on the racing schedule will follow. To make a contribution to the fundraising efforts for the trip, please
