Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University men's soccer team dropped their 2024 home opener on Monday, losing 3-0 to NJIT at McCarthy Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• NJIT got their first goal when Raz Amir pounced on a close-range ball after a low cross into the box in the 7^th minute.
• After a save by La Salle goalkeeper Jules Dechert in the 34th minute to keep the Explorers within one, Nevin Baer fired a shot on frame at the NJIT goalie in the 38th minute, but it was stopped.
• The Explorers went down 2-0 after Sokol Ymeraj curled a free kick into the top left corner, giving Dechert no chance at stopping it.
• La Salle kept pushing for a goal to start the second half, including a chance from Giammarco Rodio that was pushed out of bounds from the NJIT keeper in the 63^rd minute.
• Sean Yurgel would have two quick shots on frame in a span of four minutes, but both were saved.
• NJIT's Andrew Araya tucked away his chance into the far-left corner from just inside the box to give the away team a 3-0 lead in the 79^th minute.
• The Explorers kept trying to press to find a tally, however nothing could find the back of the net.

GAME NOTES

• Rodio and Yurgel both recorded multiple shots on goal in the game with two each.
• La Salle held a big advantage in total shots in the second half with nine compared to NJIT's four. Overall, shots were 13-12 in NJIT's favor.
• Dechert made five saves in his first match for the Explorers this season.
