Track & Field Compete in Penn Select Meet at Ott Center

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle track and field teams returned to competition Saturday afternoon, as the squads competed in the Penn Select meet. The meet, which was hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, was held at the brand new Ott Center, which officially opened last November.

In both teams' first meet of the calendar year, there were a number of personal bests achieved by those representing the Blue and Gold.

HOW THEY FINISHED (WOMEN):
  • Lexy Rivard and Helene Usher went second and fourth in the mile run, with times of 4:56.13 and 5:01.57, respectively. Rivard's time was a new personal indoor record, besting her old PR by more than five seconds.
  • Nevaeh Davis placed ninth in the 60-meter event, finishing in a time of 7.74, which was a personal best for her.
  • Soleil Morrison got fourth overall in the 400-meter race, getting a time of 56.33.
  • Gillian Lovett finished strong in the 3k event, getting fourth place with a time of 10:17.69.
  • Amelia Green and Cara Coppolino also had solid performances in the same event, getting times of 10:37.41 (12th place) and 10:41.79 (14th place), respectively.
HOW THEY FINISHED (MEN):
  • Finn Birnie's time of 4:15.31 was good for seventh in the mile run.
  • Chisom Ogbodo got a new personal best in the 60-meter, getting a time of 7.15 to finish in 13th place. That time was over a quarter of a second faster than his last PR.
  • In the 800-meter race, Chanel Muir fought back in the last lap to get fourth overall with a time of 1:51.17. As of Saturday evening, Muir's time is the 11th fastest men's 800-meter 2024-25 indoor track time among NCAA DI athletes.
  • In the same event, James Ptack won his heat and finished seventh overall with a time of 2:07.54, a new personal record.
  • Nearing the end of the meet, the trio of Matt Hill, David Butts, and Callum Murray finished in the top 15. Hill's time of 8:23.63 was good for sixth place, while Butts (8:28.79) got ninth and Murray (8:37.61) got 13th. 
UP NEXT
  • The Explorers will return to the Ott Center next weekend for the Quaker Invite, a two-day meet that will start on Friday at 2:00 p.m. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+.
